Back to Basics

When life if overwhelming, it's time to down-size.

Get back to basics.

Discard the things that take up your time in being busy and totally connected. Turn off, shut down, close the door and don't look back.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Now let the muscles in your face relax. Then work your way down: your neck, your shoulders, your chest, your tummy, your feet and toes.

Then let your brain relax and shed all those things that keep it on high-alert.

If you can live without some of them, make an effort to do so.

You can't listen to your body or your own internal voice if you don't take the time to still all the other, external voices. Then you may be able to find out what's reallly important to your health (both physical and mental), and to your life. Divest yourself of the rest.

Simple Words

Everyone has uncommon gifts that others may never know about. Make a list of yours: the things that you really can do well. Every day focus on one of those gifts and make it happen. Add to your list as you discover new and unique gifts that you have.

And, every day, be kind to yourself.

Tomorrow, a poem.
